It is now just a program I paid a chunk of change fr cluttering up my hard drive I only keep to access the plans I drew in the free version. This used to be a tool I used frequently ad enjoyed doing so. I spend my life on the computer doing design work. I was experienced with the legacy free program and designed layouts I actually got paid for using it. No need to counter my assesment with how wonderful the new functionality is.

I rate the pro version as a big fat F for fail. if the most basic function is now hard everything else just becomes even more annoying. Pretty uch the whole reson I quit using this. The most basic function of adding track went from a simple straightforward operation to some convoluted process that I have stumbled upon effectively by accident once or twice and never been able to repeat it with any regularity. This was some sily decision to not just simply add functionality but also to change the entire interface so almost nothing works the same or is even recognizable. It is actually worse because left vs right hand drie is legacy differece. Some people get it while others will not and end up having an accident. This is like learning to druve in the common world and visiting a coutry with right hand drive or vice versa. Just add the new stuff and retain the functionality. It drives me crazy when siftware designers feel some need to change the entire interface with updates. If I have to learn a whole new program then it isn't worth it. That is my bad.Īfter spending weeks and asking a lot of questions from support. To my great dismay the updates were so horrible I find it all but useless and the free version is now gone frm my computer. I was using the free version with great delight and could only imagine how pleasing the additional goodies would make e with a paid version. it shows you clearly open joints and has a "magic tool" to close them. the track library is incrediblly robust, it seems to have all the parts from every maker - some of whom ive never even heard of.

it is REALLY good at handling inclines and layers, once you fiogure out how to do it. it won't let you bend a flex track in absurd or unachievable ways. It tends to want to resize the whole layout if things get neer the edge even if thety don't go over it. as far as I can figure, the tunnel option only lets you put whole track segments into a tunnel and not start a tunnel mid-segment. jsut keep an eye on the paerts lsit it generates and "fact check" it before you go to the store. it seems to count flex track by segment, and not by the total # of linear inches. That said, the program is incredibly good and really helped me get my head around some pretty intircate layout ideas and rule out things that were geometircally impossible. So, if you are open to learning then you will find this program VERY useful. I would rate this 5/5 but it has SO many features that it takes quite a while to learn how to use them all properly and in turn how to really design robust layouts.īut, there are tons of really good docs and tutorials built in that will walk you through what you want to do.
